Roundavu

What is Roundavu?

Roundavu is a very specific pattern of experience and information architecture. It is a platform of human experience, scalable and extendable across technologies and content types, whether virtual, live, recorded, or derived. As a common denominator across experiences, Roundavu is a stepping stone and pathway from flat to spatial experiences and back. It is the way forward and an open doorway for connected coexistence.

The Next Step for UX

UX must escape software. The fact is that the principles of human interaction are universal. They apply to all human experience, from architecture to civic engagement to toothpaste tube squeezing.  It is almost incidental that UX had its fifteen minutes of fame in the era of digital transformation. It could have anything where deep understanding of human engagement was greatly needed.

Now that we have seen the peak of UX in SW, it's time to take it outside the box. I see the CX and service design movements as ways of doing that. Accessibility is another. And I think we will see many more. This is not a time for UX to shrink, but to expand.

Big tech will do what they believe is in their interest, They love the annuities model where they can count on, not just one sale, but an endless stream. This means capturing an audience for life that directly or indirectly feeds that revenue stream.  Quality service and good UX is the shared goal, dark patterns its evil twin. Which gets pursued depends on culture and business model.

I’ve never quit the mafia, but from what i hear, it resembles stopping an online subscription.

I'm saying the UX profession should not be held captive to that.  The roots of UX were far broader - Human factors, communications, education, industrial design, process engineering., etc.  These things were not invented by software engineers or Agile methodologists.  Maybe we need a reminder and a refresher on those things.

UX more broadly applied and practiced can provide value to virtually any domain. We sell ourselves short by the accepting the SW ball & chain and fail many prospective beneficiaries of our services.  Think bigger and broader.  I think the work Thomas and others are doing is in line with that.

Incidentally, my own latest endeavor is what I define as A "Universal Experience Architecture" (UXA). I call it Roundavu, details, still TBA.  I aim it to be a compliment to UX efforts such as this.
